Sexually Harmful Behaviour
In addition to our ‘in house’ development, we have specialist training relating to specific behaviours that children and young people in our care display.
One such behaviour that has been exposed in the public eye recently is young people who are sexually at risk. We currently provide care for children and young people who have been sexually at risk, with fantastic work being carried out and positive outcomes achieved, and with on-going training we believe we are one of the few providers who specialise in working with sexually at risk children.
We have not stood still on this however, and have responded to the recent increase in sexually at risk young people, particularly female young people, in a positive and proactive way by sourcing training relating specifically to this behaviour and rolling this training throughout Direct Care Ltd.
The training we have identified as the most effective for our needs has been supplied by Cliff Supple, which is Transactional Analysis, a model of people and relationships that was developed based on two notions, first that we have three parts or ‘ego-states’ to our personality, and secondly that these converse with one another in ‘transactions’ (hence the name). TA is a very common model used in therapy and there is a great deal written about it.
With the full range of training provided, as well as the therapeutic way we deliver our care, we have the confidence in helping children and young people understand more about the behaviours they display, and how better to manage them.
