Staff & Training

All of our staff are carefully selected and are passionate about achieving outstanding levels of care.

Staff training and continuing professional development is paramount at Direct Care. We strive to ensure staff are equipped with the skills and knowledge to provide the best possible outcomes for the young people in our care, using a mixture of face to face, in-house and online training courses.

Staff and Training

During the induction process all staff attend the two day Team-Teach training course. Team-Teach has received the highest level of award in the UK - a National Training Award. This government supported award is presented to training providers which have demonstrated exceptional achievement through training and development. Team-Teach is accredited by the Institute of Conflict Management. Team-Teach focusses on 95% positive handling and the use of de-escalation techniques to reduce the risks and the use of restraint.

Direct Care offers all mandatory training as well as specialised training to meet the needs of the individual young people within our care such as safeguarding, child sexual exploitation, missing from home, self -harm, drug and alcohol misuse and attachment.

All staff must attain the Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare as it's an expectation and a legal requirement. Staff who wish to progress further may have the opportunity to complete the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare. We also offer the opportunity to complete the Level 4 Education and Training Qualification to enable staff to prepare training packages and deliver training within the company.
