Staff & Training

All of our staff are carefully selected and chosen for their extensive experience in the care profession and are passionate about achieving outstanding levels of care. Direct Care is dedicated to investing in our staff team and organise regular training sessions to help develop their skills.

Staff training is paramount at Direct Care. All senior staff members and managers have been trained to train others to help us build a consistent and strong working unit. Every month there is an opportunity to take part in a training course to ensure that we are up to date with the most current trends in childcare and able to offer our children the most extensive and in depth care. These courses include Food Hygiene, First Aid, Fire Safety, Child Protection and Team Teach.

Four of our senior staff are Team Teach (BILD) accredited. Team Teach is the preferred positive handling training programme we use at Direct Care which all staff attain before they commence employment. The Team Teach ethos is instilled in all staff in all six homes, emphasising the importance of forming positive relationships with the young people before direct work can be undertaken in a safe and caring environment.

All Managers have NVQ level 4 and seniors NVQ3. We encourage staff to learn and will support them through their courses. At Direct Care we feel it is vital staff are given constant access to training that will progress their care abilities and aid them in the provision of the outstanding levels of care we require.
