Our objectives are to provide:
- A caring, nurturing and stimulating environment, where young people can work towards achieving their potential, building on their strengths and celebrating their achievements
- An environment that promotes dignity and respect for all individuals, regardless of their race, culture, gender or ability
- A safe environment, free from abuse and any behaviour that’s disrespectful to individuals, their family, friends or the wider community
- Opportunities for young people to learn, develop and make informed choices in a safe and secure environment – and secure reparation from previous experiences
- An ethos and culture that’s positive and conducive to personal development, discouraging self harm and harm to others
- An open learning culture for young people and staff
- A framework of education and learning that enables our young people to acquire the skills and knowledge they need to develop their understanding, thought processes and make better choices
- A framework of support, including key workers for young people who encourage them to confront the meaning and significance of their behaviour, and to realise the possibility of change through understanding
- A carefully selected staff group, recruited through robust procedures, appropriately trained through induction and ongoing training on both mandatory and voluntary levels to aid perception, identification and secure the best outcomes
- Positive relationships with clearly defined boundaries between staff and young people to encourage trust and a sense of value as well as belonging
- A working partnership with young people, in conjunction with other agencies, that provides continuity and consistency of care that benefits their development.
